How Cratejet works
Every order follows the same path: agree a price in chat, lock the order in escrow, hand the item over against a one-time code, and let the buyer release the funds. Here is what that looks like from each side.
If you are buying
1. Post a request or pick a listing. Post a request saying what you want, where it should come from, your budget and when you need it. You can also buy something a seller has already listed.
2. Compare bids in chat. Travelers flying your route bid a price in the chat on your request. The bid is the full delivered price, and each bid shows the traveler's trust score.
3. Accept one and check out. Accepting a bid creates the order. At checkout you see the price plus Cratejet's 5% platform fee, and the order is locked in escrow.
4. Wait for the handover. The traveler buys the item, marks the order as in transit and carries it to you.
5. Give your one-time code. Generate your delivery code on the order page and give it to the traveler only once the item is in your hands and you have checked it. Entering it marks the order delivered.
6. Release the funds. Releasing the escrow completes the order. If something is wrong, raise a dispute from the order page instead: the escrow is frozen while the Cratejet team reviews it.
7. Ratings. Rating each other after a completed order is not available yet.
If you are traveling
1. List your trip. On Flight Radar, add your route, travel date and how many kilos of spare luggage space you have.
2. Bid on requests. Offer a price on buyer requests in chat. Your bid is the full delivered price, so it should cover the item and your carrying fee. Buyers can also post a request on your trip, and you get a message when they do.
3. Wait for the escrow. When a buyer accepts your bid, an order is created and the buyer locks it in escrow at checkout. Buy the item only after that.
4. Buy, check and carry. Keep the item with you and mark the order as in transit. Never carry a sealed package you cannot inspect.
5. Hand it over. Enter the one-time code the buyer gives you at handover. That marks the order delivered.
6. Escrow released. The buyer releases the escrow to you, which completes the order and adds to your trust score.
If you are selling
1. List an item. Create a listing with photos, a description and a price.
2. Hear from buyers. Buyers can buy at your listed price, or message you with an offer in chat.
3. Escrow is locked. When a buyer checks out, the order is locked in escrow.
4. Hand it over. Ship or deliver the item and mark the order as in transit. When the buyer has it, they give you their one-time code, and entering it marks the order delivered.
5. Escrow released. The buyer releases the escrow to you to complete the order.
Payments today
Online payments are not live yet. Locking an order in escrow records it as funded so both sides can follow the steps above, but no card or UPI payment is taken and Cratejet does not hold any money. Until payments go live, the buyer and the traveler or seller settle the amount directly with each other. The FAQ has more detail.
